Rome [ENA] The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) unites journalists associations, publishing houses, academic institutions, trade unions and media rights experts to achieve the application of the European Charter on Freedom of the Press throughout Europe. Founded in 2015. ECPMF is registered as a European Cooperative Society and headquartered in Leipzig, with members/partners/supporters in 16 countries.

The ECPMF provides news, analyses and tools on media freedom issues, coordinates its member organisations' activities helping also individual journalists under threat, for example through a residence programme and petitions. In Malta the investigation concerning the journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia's murder seems to be completely stalled. But in the meanwhile right-wing trolls continue to harass anti-corruption activists following Caruana Galizia's legacy. The ECPMF ( European Centre for Press and Media Freedom) published the story of Tina Urso, who is exposed to death threats. In her case trolls who were obviously working together published her ID number and her parents' home address, while the police seems to keep quiet.

Maltese anti-corruption activist Tina Urso has been targeted by a government- backed name-and-shame online campaign in recent months. She, her lawyer and media and human rights activists criticize the authorities responsible for investigating the threats. Tina Urso is a member of the voluntary, grassroots group Il-Kenniesa active in raising anti-corruption awareness. "We started with Il-Kenniesa in June 2017 when the Government did not remove the ministers who were mentioned for wrongdoing in the 'Panama papers' “ Urso told the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom .

Journalists like Tina Urso in Malta have the courage to send a message to the power while are still waiting for an answer for the benefits of democracy. Because corruption seems to be the unique rule of the day. And that’s not right.
